This is what Elon Musk Said

I had this cool idea and a way to support Elon Musk. Yes, he is a billionaire and many think he doesn’t need anyone’s support, but he actually did support me in 2018 and I landed my current full time job writing at CleanTechnica thanks to his influence and support in my life.

Anyway, I asked him about making smaller Boring Bricks for artists to use. I told him I would love to use them in my jewelry. and would love to buy from him and support him.

He replied to me and explained that the bricks are coming, but the focus of the whole team is on the Vegas Confention Center tunnel. However the last line in his tweet to me was what really made my day.

He said, “I love (heart emoji) crowdsourcing ideas with people who really care about making great products!”

He didn’t say, “Johnna makes great jewelry products,” but the way he worded it shows that he does see my jewelry as a great product.

Remember, this is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla we are talking about here. Yeah, I am a bit starstruck, but the fact that he took the time to reply to me and include that last line shows he cares. And that he would be willing to do a collab sometime. That would be cool. I’d totally be open to doing a collab with Elon for any of his projects.

One Of The Rarest Minerals On The Planet In 2012, I was living in Arlington, TX where I befriended the kind folks at Power of the Rainbow. The owner, Tray Bradford showed me something one day for my jewelry blog. The stone, he'd told me, was a very rare mineral known...

Cleansing Your Space

I want to share a really cool stone with you. It’s an Ametrine seer stone. Usually seer stones are naturally made by rivers flowing over quartz minerals and polishing them into a clear, almost crystal ball like stone.  However, humans make them, too and this one is...

Working With Hyalite

Hyalite opal is an unusual gem that is beautiful in its own way. Many contain trace amounts of uranium which enable the gem to glow under a UV light. I have a small piece in my own collection that I scored at a gem show in Atlanta back in 2019. Recently, I had a...

Golden Enhydros Are Unique And They Fluoresce

I have always wanted to include an Enhydro in my crystal, gem and mineral collection. Naturally, my first one is so unique that as a writer for CleanTechnica, it's kind of serendipity. CleanTechnica is the number one news site that covers clean energy and cleantech. I...

Working With Platinum For The First Time

Working With Platinum For The First Time

I remember sitting with Daryl in his shop one day while he was wrapping something in 14K gold-filled wire for someone. I'd just started learning how to wire wrap and was not anywhere close to the level I am at now. In fact, I was very self-conscious about my...

The Simple Elegance of Black Spinel

The Simple Elegance of Black Spinel

Black spinel is one of many types of spinel, but it has its own unique beauty and elegance. I have been able to get my hands on two beautifully cut gemstones and am debating on keeping one for myself.  These gems (in my tweet below) are cut and faceted with the rose...

The Legends And Science Of Topaz

Topaz is a gem that has legends and science weaving together the brilliance of this gem. Earlier this year, I applied for a scholarship with the Gemological Institution of America. That got rejected--just found out today. I want to learn gemology--not so I can...

Review Of Maye Musk’s Book, A Woman Makes A Plan.

I have been wanting to review Maye Musk’s book, A Woman Makes A Plan for some time now. I actually planned to buy it but it came to me as a gift. This sat as a draft in my blog for a good minute. I think a part of the reason why was that I hope that I can write a...

How To Wear Brass Jewelry Without Your Skin Turning Green

As an artist, I love exploring different metals with my wirework. I’ve wrapped with both brass and bronze before and love how they look before and after they naturally oxidize.  Many people have allergies or their skin turns green when wearing brass, bronze, or copper...

Hi, I’m Johnna

I’m an artist from Shreveport, LA who learned the art of wire wrapping gems and minerals into jewelry from Grammy winning musician, Daryl Thompson, who became like a father to me.

He is the one who intrudoced me to the healing world of crystals and I have been learning every since.

This world is ancient but can be applied to modern day times.

My life is hectic–I work from home, am mothering a kitten who almost died, and am living the life of my dreams.

However, we always have to stay grounded and what keeps me grounded is working with the healing gifts of the mineral kingdom to create something.

Every single one of my jewelry designs has a person that is meant just for it.
